Belly self-portrait, Week 14

Took this a few weeks ago to show off my new maternity pants. You can't tell, but they go up grandpa-style - covering the belly.

And, because nothing says class like a pregnant woman in her husband's wifebeater, I added a belly pic today.

Belly pics (2 for the price of 1)

Ok, ok, so you've been asking for belly pics. Here are a few. This is my glorious after-dinner, evening belly. (The morning belly is definitely not as glorious - the belly definitely swells up at night.)

These photos are witness to the fact that the belly "popped" out this past weekend.

The first ultrasound mystery: Solved!

Matt Miller has solved the mystery. He is SO smart.

First ultrasound - 13 weeks and 3 days

There's our little meatball.

We're still debating over what's the head and what's the butt. You're welcome to take a stab at it!

The ultrasound was pretty amazing. We got to see the baby's head, a little waving hand, and a little tiny beating heart - completely mesmerizing. Just seeing our little meatball and seeing him/her move was just ... beyond words.

And, on a lighter note, asking a pregnant woman to drink 1L of water in half an hour, then not pee for over an hour -- that is NOT funny. At all. By the time I got to the clinic, I was walking at a snail's pace, sweating, shaking, and would have paid my life's savings in exchange for a pee.

Poor Luc was attempting to talk to me to distract me, and at one point even tried to touch me, at which point he received a glaring dirty look and a hissing "DON'T TOUCH ME."

Week 5

Dear Baby,

It's been an exciting couple of days since we took the home pregnancy test and it came out positive!

We called your grandparents - both grandmothers cried a little and the grandfathers were strong and proud. Your aunties are also very excited! So far we've only shared the news about you to a few close friends, but they have all been beside themselves with joy. Your arrival will undoubtedly be an anticipated one.

Today, your father and I went to see the doctor, who walked us through what the next few months will be like. We'll be back to see her around week 12.

So far, your heart has developed and you have eyes and hands. Your father and I have been doing impressions of you - we stick our hands on our heads and wag them around, but I'm sure you look much cuter than that. You've been good to me so far, I haven't felt sick at all (knock on wood!) and my energy has been really good the last few days. My tummy aches a little, but that's the worst of it. You are the best! I think I love you already.

The doctor says you'll be making your appearance somewhere around the 19th or 20th of September. I bet your Aunt Mai will be rooting for the 16th - that's her birthday!

Well, baby - keep growing. Oh, and if you hear any funny voices, that's just your dad, talking into my belly.

With love,
Mom & Papa
